Virtual Reality Career Exploration in Your Classroom!
Vic VICE (Victorian Virtual Industry Careers Experience) is a cutting-edge VR platform that transports students into realistic workplace settings across sectors like agriculture, logistics, health & community services, dentistry, early childhood, and more.
Featuring 360° videos, interactive touchpoints, and game-style simulations, it encourages hands-on exploration and career awareness—all from the classroom.
Built with guidance from VicLLENs and the Firth Review, Vic VICE aligns with the Victorian Curriculum and specifically supports engagement in the ‘middle years’, offering a safe, accessible alternative to traditional work-experience activities or industry tours.
FMPLLEN have a set of 6 x Virtual Reality Headsets ready to be borrowed!
Evaluations show that 98% of students enjoy the experience and over 1 in 3 feel more excited about their futures.
Here are some adaptable ideas for each school level:
Year 7
Career curiosity sessions: Use bite-sized experiences—like early childhood or dental care VR—to ignite interest in what grown-ups do.
Discussion starters: After VR, students share what they saw, what tasks intrigued them, and why.
Storytelling & writing prompts: Let students “be” a character in the VR—what’s their job, what’s a typical day, how do they help others?
Years 8 & 9
Curriculum-linked investigations: Explore areas like dairy farming, aged care, or logistics in depth. Use worksheets or discussion prompts to tie into VET-related subjects.
Group reflections: What surprised them? Did any roles challenge stereotypes or spark a new interest?
Career pathways mapping: Students can research how the roles in VR link to local jobs or school elective subjects.
Years 10–12
VR as pre-placement research: Let students explore industries they’re considering for work experience or apprenticeships.
Debate & ethics talks: For example, compare traditional vs automated dairy farming, or consider social implications of aged care or disability services.
Professional immersion projects: Use VR insights as springboards for interviews, research assignments, or career reflections.
